Dubai: The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) has unveiled the 'AI Ethics Assessment Programme', integrating the IEEE CertifAIEd curriculum developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as a part of its executive education series.
According to Emirates News Agency, the programme has been developed in collaboration with the UAE's Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office and is scheduled to take place from May 26th to 30th, 2025, at the MBRSG headquarters in Dubai. The initiative aims to cultivate institutional models for the ethical and responsible use of smart technologies, aligning with the UAE's national strategy to bolster its global standing in the AI sector and enhance community awareness regarding the ethical implications of AI systems.
This aligns with the visionary strategy announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to integrate AI into academic curricula and prepare a generation capable of influencing the future. Additionally, the programme is crafted to enable participants to evaluate Autonomous Intelligent Systems (AIS) against standards of transparency, accountability, privacy, and algorithmic bias mitigation, following the IEEE CertifAIEd framework.
Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, emphasized the programme's significance, stating, "Launching the AI Ethics Assessment Programme reaffirms our commitment at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government to thoroughly prepare our national talents to develop sound policies in the area of artificial intelligence, striking a balance between technological advancement and ethical responsibility. This, in turn, allows for establishing an advanced knowledge-based environment that supports the UAE's vision to create an exemplary model in digital governance to be emulated around the world."
The programme is tailored for professionals across various industries, particularly those involved in strategy, compliance, data governance, technology, and innovation. The comprehensive training sessions will address key topics, including strategic principles and considerations related to AI ethics, IEEE CertifAIEd criteria, ethical evaluation of smart applications and services, and ethical considerations of generative AI. Participants will also engage in practical training sessions and an examination to secure the CertifAIEd Assessor qualification.
