Cairo: Members of the Rubu' Qarn for Theatre and Performing Arts, particularly from the Puppet Arts Centre, are participating in the Arab Puppetry Forum during its fifth edition in Cairo, spanning from 20th to 24th January 2026. The Puppet Arts Centre is notable for being the only specialised puppetry centre in the region and is an initiative of the Rubu' Qarn Centre for Theatre and Performing Arts.
According to Emirates News Agency, this participation is at the invitation of the Arab Theatre Authority, in collaboration with the Cairo Puppet Theatre under Egypt's Ministry of Culture. The international event showcases the puppetry performance 'Chairs', underscoring the Puppet Arts Centre's dedication to empowering its members and enhancing their artistic skills. The Centre aims to develop deeper specialisation in puppetry by engaging with advanced Arab experiences and participating in platforms that nurture creative and cognitive skills in this art form.
'Chairs' is a silent puppetry performance distinguished by its musical and visual elements. It uses movement, rhythm, and symbolism to delve into human reflections without verbal communication. The performance provides an artistic experience that leans on imagery and movement as its main narrative tools, highlighting an Emirati contribution that showcases the variety of contemporary artistic approaches in puppetry.
This event offers a significant opportunity for members of the Puppet Arts Centre to engage with a specialised Arab audience and exchange knowledge with artists and practitioners. It helps expand their theatrical perspectives, enhances the visibility of the Emirati experience in Arab cultural events, and consolidates the Centre's role as a leading regional hub for puppetry.
