Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Culture signed two cooperation agreements with the Sea of Culture Foundation and the Emirati Musicians' Association (EMA) during the 35th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2026, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 13th to 18th September. These agreements underscore the Ministry's dedication to enhancing partnerships with cultural and community organizations, promoting Emirati talent development, and strengthening culture's role in society.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreements were signed by Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, alongside Sheikha Rawda bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chair of the Board of Sea of Culture Foundation, and artist Ihab Darwish, Founder and President of the Emirati Musicians' Association. Sheikha Rawda emphasized the belief that culture begins with people and flourishes through dialogue and knowledge. The partnership with the Ministry is aimed at creating opportunities for engaging initiatives that involve a broad cross-section of society, fostering dialogue, learning, and creativity.
Mubarak Al Nakhi highlighted that the agreements represent the Ministry's strategic approach to nurturing sustainable partnerships aimed at strengthening the cultural landscape through integrated efforts. These partnerships aim to leverage expertise and resources to deliver societal impact and empower national talents.
Composer Ihab Darwish remarked that the partnership marks a significant milestone in bolstering the national music ecosystem, positioning Emirati musicians at the core of cultural and creative development. The EMA's centers serve as environments for education, training, and music production, providing avenues for national talents to grow and pursue professional opportunities while preserving cultural identity.
The agreement with EMA focuses on empowering Emirati musicians by supporting their creative work and academic growth, allowing EMA to utilize Abu Dhabi Cultural Centre's facilities for the 'Music Centre' project and organizing joint cultural events. It also includes developing an integrated training program for musicians to enhance their skills.
Meanwhile, the MoU with the Sea of Culture Foundation aims to enhance cultural and community awareness through joint initiatives such as seminars, workshops, and cultural programs, supporting media productions linked to these joint ventures. It focuses on engaging different societal groups, encouraging participation in cultural activities, and promoting social cohesion and national identity.
These agreements are part of the Ministry of Culture's broader strategy to collaborate with national institutions and entities, creating a supportive ecosystem for talents and creatives, and launching cultural initiatives that ensure sustainable impact.
