Ministry of Economy and Tourism Hosts ‘Ramadan Riyada Majlis’ in Dubai

Dubai: The Ministry of Economy and Tourism organised the 'Ramadan Riyada Majlis' in Dubai, bringing together leading women entrepreneurs and business leaders from across the UAE. The event aimed to foster dialogue, facilitate the exchange of best practices, and inspire the launch of economic initiatives that support the country's sustainable development journey.

According to Emirates News Agency, the session was attended by Badreya Al Maidoor, Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism; Sheikha Dr. Alia Al Qassimi, Founder and Chairperson of AHQ Investments; and Arwa Al Falasi, Director of Partnerships and Communication at the UAE Gender Balance Council, along with several Emirati businesswomen and women entrepreneurs.

Badreya Al Maidoor highlighted the role of women in the global economy, stating that women entrepreneurs are a key driving force in global economies through their ventures and leadership in finance, business, and innovation. She noted that under its leadership, the UAE has made strides in empowering women entrepreneurs and SME owners by providing a competitive business environment and comprehensive support to ensure their sustainability, reflecting their contribution to the national economy.

She added that the Ministry of Economy and Tourism has been collaborating with local and international partners to develop strategies supporting women entrepreneurs, facilitating their access to resources and enhancing their growth opportunities. Notable initiatives include 'The Emirates: The Startup Capital of the World' national campaign, which provides Emirati women with opportunities to expand their businesses and enter new sectors, alongside the National SME Programme.

Sheikha Dr. Alia Al Qassimi emphasised the connection between well-being and economic success, stating that women's health should be a measurable national KPI, recognising that hormonal and preventive well-being across life stages is fundamental to sustainable economic growth and workforce resilience.

The event featured five panel discussions. The first session, attended by Sheikha Dr. Alia Al Qassimi, explored women's mental health and work-life balance, focusing on raising awareness and inspiring growth.

The second session highlighted experiences of innovative women from the Ministry of Community Empowerment, sharing insights on launching businesses, overcoming challenges, and supporting family businesses.

The third session discussed policies promoting gender equality and women's participation across economic sectors, increasing awareness of gender balance policies in the UAE, and encouraging initiatives driving women's economic inclusion.

The fourth panel highlighted Sumaya Al Maskari's journey, Founder of Core Studio, illustrating how to transform a passion for health into a business model, encouraging attendees to adopt healthy lifestyles.

The final session highlighted contributions of Emirati women entrepreneurs in developing projects in tourism and hospitality, underscoring their role in strengthening the national economy and promoting local tourism initiatives.
