Abu dhabi: Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), has received a delegation from Emirates Airline led by Shannon Scott, Vice President of Sustainability and Environment. The meeting focused on the future of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and its potential deployment within the UAE's aviation sector. Discussions also included strategies to enhance the use of low-carbon fuels to support the UAE's emission reduction goals and sector sustainability.
According to Emirates News Agency, participants reviewed the latest global developments concerning SAF and assessed their effects on the country's aviation plans. The meeting also noted the UAE's current efforts to improve operational efficiency, drive technological innovation, and support low-emission energy solutions. These initiatives align with the UAE's broader energy and sustainability strategy, aiming to enhance the aviation sector's competitiveness.
MoEI stated its commitment to monitoring international developments and aligning these with national priorities. The ministry aims to strengthen cooperation with key stakeholders to facilitate a transition to a more efficient and sustainable aviation energy ecosystem. The meeting was also attended by Eng Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at MoEI.
