Dubai: The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), in collaboration with Dubai Ports Authority under the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, organized a community event to honor seafarers as part of the 'Connect with Your Family' initiative. This initiative acknowledges the crucial role of seafarers in global maritime trade and their sacrifices that ensure the continuity of international supply chains.
According to Emirates News Agency, the 'Connect with Your Family' initiative aims to facilitate communication between seafarers and their families while they are at Dubai's ports. This effort is intended to alleviate the challenges of maintaining family connections during long periods at sea, thereby strengthening family bonds and providing reassurance.
The event also included the distribution of appreciation gifts to participating seafarers in recognition of their dedication to the maritime sector. Hessa Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs at MoEI, highlighted the UAE's commitment to improving the lives of seafarers and acknowledging their contributions to both national and global economies.
Hessa Al Malek stated, "This initiative reflects the UAE's commitment to easing the lives of seafarers in appreciation of the economic and humanitarian roles they play. Through the 'Connect with Your Family' initiative, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has sought to highlight the human and professional value of seafarers."
Captain Ibrahim Al Balooshi, CEO of the Dubai Ports Authority, emphasized the importance of recognizing seafarers as integral to global trade. He expressed pride in contributing to the initiative and reiterated the UAE's commitment to supporting maritime personnel while enhancing the human and social aspects of the sector.
