Mohammed bin Rashid, Mansour bin Zayed Attend Strategic Agreement Signing to Reduce Energy and Water Consumption.

Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) and Siemens to initiate the first phase of a project aimed at reducing energy and water consumption in federal government buildings. This initiative involves retrofitting buildings that have high energy and water usage. According to Emirates News Agency, the signing took place during the UAE Government's Annual Meetings 2024 and was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. The agreement was signed by Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Helmut von Struve, CEO of Siemens in the Middle East and the UAE. Siemens will be responsible for financing, installing, testing, and operating systems intended to reduce energy and water consumption in federal buildings by 27 % compared to the consumption average of the past three years. Al Mazrouei emphasized that the approach to developing the energy and infrastructure sectors aligns with the directives of UAE leadership. He highlighted the balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability, driven by partnerships with the private sector. The project is part of the UAE's efforts to enhance sustainability and conserve natural resources. Helmut von Struve expressed Siemens' commitment to supporting the UAE's goals of decarbonizing and improving energy efficiency in the building sector. He stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving shared visions and assured the provision of the latest technologies by Siemens to ensure the project's success. MoEI aims to collaborate with the private sector to reduce energy and water consumption in high-use federal buildings.
