MoHAP Highlights Health Readiness Measures for UAE Pilgrims Ahead of Hajj Season 2026

Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) is emphasizing the importance of health preparedness and preventive measures for UAE pilgrims in preparation for the Hajj season 2026. The Ministry has stressed the need for early health readiness to ensure that pilgrims can perform Hajj rituals comfortably and in accordance with approved health guidelines. This involves adhering to preventive measures, receiving necessary vaccinations, and following medical advice before and during their travel.

According to Emirates News Agency, these efforts exemplify the UAE's proactive approach to public health and preventive care, alongside ongoing coordination to bolster the health and wellbeing of UAE pilgrims throughout their Hajj journey. Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, highlighted that the UAE is fostering a proactive vision to develop an advanced preventive healthcare model, which not only focuses on service delivery but also on strengthening readiness and promoting awareness to support informed health decisions.

Al Sayegh further noted that collaboration among national entities will enhance response efficiency and ensure the integration of roles to provide the best possible health environment for UAE pilgrims. These initiatives also reinforce the UAE's stance in creating impactful and forward-thinking health programs based on early planning and sustainable preparedness.

MoHAP reiterated the necessity of receiving mandatory vaccinations prior to travel, particularly the meningococcal vaccine, along with recommended vaccines aligned with approved medical guidelines. Such measures aim to mitigate risks associated with infectious diseases and support a smoother Hajj journey. The Ministry and health authorities have urged pilgrims to visit healthcare centers well in advance for necessary medical check-ups to ensure their fitness for Hajj rituals, particularly for older adults, individuals with chronic conditions, and pregnant women.

Pilgrims have also been advised to adhere to preventive measures during Hajj, including maintaining personal hygiene, wearing masks in crowded areas, staying hydrated, and avoiding direct sunlight exposure to minimize the risk of heat exhaustion. Additional guidance has been provided for individuals with chronic conditions, advising them to carry sufficient medication along with medical reports and to follow prescribed treatment plans for their wellbeing during the journey.

Health guidance and awareness information will continue to be disseminated through official communication channels, digital platforms, websites, smart applications, and SMS messages to support pilgrims with accurate and reliable health information throughout the Hajj season.
