Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has announced a strategic collaboration with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) aimed at bolstering the National Scholarship Programme. This initiative is designed to enhance educational and career opportunities for Emirati students pursuing engineering disciplines crucial to the nation's development.
According to Emirates News Agency, this partnership underscores a shared commitment between MoHESR and EGA to nurture local talent and align higher education with labor market needs, supporting the UAE's economic objectives. The collaboration represents a significant development in public-private sector efforts to elevate the National Scholarship Programme's quality.
Under the new agreement, MoHESR will provide scholarships to Emirati students studying mechanical and electrical engineering, along with other agreed-upon specializations, at leading global universities. The two organizations will collaborate to identify suitable academic institutions and programs, evaluate scholarship applications, and select candidates in line with admission requirements.
As part of the initiative, the Ministry will handle tuition fees, allowances, and oversee students' academic progress. It will also coordinate with educational attach©s abroad, particularly for overseas training and employment matters.
Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education Operations Sector and Director of the International Education Support and Scholarships Department at MoHESR, highlighted the significance of this collaboration in creating academic and career pathways for Emirati students. He emphasized the importance of equipping national talent with quality education and supporting their workforce integration to contribute to the nation's goals.
EGA is set to offer practical training, professional support, and post-graduation employment opportunities, while also contributing to the design of career pathways. Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, stressed the importance of empowering UAE National talents for the future growth of the national economy and industrial sector. He noted the collaboration as a step towards fostering academic excellence to meet workforce demands.
The partnership will feature a joint follow-up mechanism to ensure smooth transitions for graduates, with EGA providing feedback on readiness and program improvements. MoHESR continues to enhance the National Scholarship Programme with its partners to develop qualified Emirati talent capable of driving sustainable national growth.
