Dubai: Commuters and residents across the UAE have been urged to exercise extreme caution as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a weather alert for dense fog and sharply deteriorating visibility starting late Tuesday night. The weather bureau warned that horizontal visibility could drop significantly, and at times reach near-zero, over several coastal areas and islands. The atmospheric conditions are expected to persist from 23:30 on Tuesday, 24 February, until at least 10:00 on Wednesday morning. NCM advises motorists to reduce their speed, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and strictly avoid using hazard lights while driving in foggy conditions.
According to Emirates News Agency, the alert from the NCM highlights the importance of adherence to safety guidelines during adverse weather conditions. The agency has emphasized that reduced visibility could lead to dangerous driving situations, prompting the need for motorists to remain vigilant. This warning comes as part of efforts to ensure public safety and minimize the risk of accidents on roads during the foggy period.
The NCM's alert also serves as a reminder for residents to stay informed about weather updates through official channels. The agency continues to monitor weather conditions closely and will provide further updates if necessary. Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow for extra travel time to account for the potential delays caused by the fog.
