Abu dhabi: The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, has issued a strong condemnation of the illegal measures taken by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank. These measures aim to impose unlawful sovereignty, expand settlement activity, and establish a new de facto legal and administrative reality in the occupied territory.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Council expressed its unequivocal rejection of these violations, which are seen as attempts to unlawfully annex the West Bank and threaten the forced displacement of the Palestinian population. The Council emphasized that these actions are a clear violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.
The statement from the Council highlighted that any unilateral actions seeking to change the legal, historical, or demographic status of Palestinian land, including East Jerusalem, are considered null, void, and illegal.
The Muslim Council of Elders warned that the continuation of expansionist policies and illegal practices in the occupied West Bank is a dangerous escalation. It has the potential to fuel violence, undermine peace and stability prospects in the region, and exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The Council renewed its call to the international community to take legal and moral responsibility by seriously working towards a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue. This includes ending over seven decades of ongoing suffering and ensuring the Palestinian people's legitimate right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
