Dubai: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended the graduation ceremony for the 14th cohort of students from the American University in the Emirates (AUE), known as the 'Guinness Batch.' The event took place at the Festival Arena Dubai - Outdoor Hall and coincided with the UAE's 54th Union Day celebrations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ceremony featured a significant announcement highlighting the university's entry into the Guinness World Records for creating the world's largest ghutra. The achievement was officially recognized by Guinness representative Mbali Nkosi, who presented the certificate to the university before a live display of the ghutra was showcased to the attendees.
The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Mohammed Saleh bin Badwa Al Darmaki, Honourary President of the University, and Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees. Also present were members of the Board of Trustees, faculty, administrative staff, and many graduates' families and guests.
In his keynote address, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak expressed pride in the 300 male and female graduates, emphasizing their role as future contributors to the nation and the world. He commended the university's commitment to excellence and its efforts in preparing students to meet modern challenges. He also expressed gratitude to UAE leaders for their support of education.
The ceremony included a musical performance by an Emirati band and a special visual presentation titled 'Mohammedain Al-Ezz,' celebrating UAE's 54th Union Day. A graduate representative expressed gratitude for the university's support, while Mbali Nkosi highlighted the university's global leadership and innovation.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak presented the graduation certificates to the 2025 cohort, marking a joyful occasion for the graduates and their families. The event concluded with entertainment segments, underlining the AUE's dedication to quality education and student empowerment.
