Paris: NASA extended its commercial crew contract with Space Exploration Technologies Corp, adding three crewed Dragon flights to the International Space Station through 2030, worth up to US$946 million upon completion. The extension brings SpaceX's total under the Commercial Crew Transportation Capability contract to 17 operational missions.
According to Emirates News Agency, NASA stated on Friday that the decision to expand the contract with SpaceX helps the space agency maintain access to the International Space Station with two unique commercial crew industry partners. This extension underscores the importance of commercial partnerships in ensuring continuous and flexible access to space.
Under the full contract, SpaceX will have earned $5.92 billion from NASA, solidifying its role as a key player in NASA's efforts to ensure reliable transportation to and from the space station. This collaboration highlights the ongoing commitment to fostering a robust commercial space industry.
