National Programme for Coders and Samsung Expand AI Education to 4,000 Students in UAE

Abu Dhabi: The National Programme for Coders and Samsung Gulf Electronics have announced the expansion of their Galaxy AI Pioneers (GAIP) programme, aiming to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) education directly into classrooms across the UAE. This initiative focuses on training over 4,000 students in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in critical areas such as AI, coding, content creation, and online safety.

According to Emirates News Agency, the curriculum of this programme covers a wide range of topics, including AI and Python fundamentals, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, AI robotics, and natural language processing. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Mahmoud, Director at the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, highlighted the UAE government's commitment to empowering young national professionals to significantly contribute to the digital landscape. This commitment aligns with the UAE's vision of digital transformation and building a knowledge-based economy.

Al Mahmoud also stated that the UAE seeks to prepare its youth for future digital challenges through advanced training programmes, entrepreneurship encouragement in technology sectors, and support for innovative ideas. Shafi Alam, Director and Head of Direct-to-Consumer Business and Corporate Marketing at Samsung Gulf Electronics, emphasized the importance of integrating AI and digital literacy into daily learning. He noted the success of the pilot programme and the demand for advanced technology education among young learners.

The curriculum is structured around three key pillars: a comprehensive coding and AI track for building foundational technical skills, a creative content development module using Galaxy AI tools, and a digital safety component for responsible technology use. Currently, the programme is being rolled out across 15 British, American, and IB curriculum schools for students aged 11-14, allowing them hands-on experience with Galaxy AI devices and real-world applications.

Additionally, the initiative includes an online safety course designed to reach 900 parents, creating a comprehensive support system for young learners. This strategic initiative aligns with the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, reinforcing the nation's leadership in technological innovation and educational excellence. The 2024 GAIP programme featured three consecutive batches of over 140 young innovators trained.
