Abu dhabi: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday, primarily over the islands and some northern areas. On Wednesday, cloud cover and rainfall are anticipated to be concentrated over the sea and the far northern parts of the country, occurring at intervals.
According to Emirates News Agency, from late Saturday night until early Sunday morning, the country experienced rainfall of varying intensity, starting over the waters of the Arabian Gulf and the islands, then extending to the coastal areas including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Qaiwain, and Ras Al Khaimah. During daytime hours, rainfall reached the northern and eastern inland areas, with Saqr Port recording the highest rainfall at 12.5 mm.
Satellite images and weather radar data on Monday showed a decrease in cloud cover over the country, with clouds concentrated over the sea, islands, and some northern and eastern areas, leading to a decline in rainfall chances. The NCM expects the main rainfall wave to pass on Thursday and Friday, affecting western regions first and gradually moving to Abu Dhabi late Thursday night and early Friday morning.
On Friday, rainfall is expected to extend to the northern regions, Al Ain, and eastern areas, with cloud amounts decreasing during the evening and night. By Saturday, cloud amounts will noticeably decrease, weakening rainfall chances, though some low- and mid-level clouds may form over the far northern parts, potentially accompanied by limited rainfall.
Atmospheric instability during this period may lead to the formation of local clouds, especially during daytime hours. Winds will shift from southeasterly to northeasterly, becoming northwesterly, moderate to fresh, and strong at times, raising dust and sand and reducing visibility. The sea conditions will range from slight to moderate, becoming rough at times, especially with cloud cover, in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
