Tokyo: Japan's Nikkei share average rose for a third consecutive session and hit a record closing high, supported by heavily weighted tech stocks. The Nikkei closed up 0.47% at 59,416.49 while the broader Topix index fell 0.04% to 3,714.85 points.
According to Emirates News Agency, of the 1,600 stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's main market, 21% rose, 75% fell, and 2% remained unchanged. This performance highlights the significant influence of tech stocks on the Nikkei's recent upward trend.
