NMDC Group Unveils New Dredger ‘Abu Al Bakhoush’

Nantong:NMDC Group, a leader in marine, energy, and engineering solutions, has inaugurated the Abu Al Bakhoush, a state-of-the-art cutter suction dredger, in a ceremony held in Nantong, China. This event marks a significant step in the Group's international growth strategy, enhancing its fleet capabilities for large-scale projects globally.

According to Emirates News Agency, the inauguration was attended by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, and representatives from the UAE Embassy in China. NMDC Group's CEO, Dr. Yasser Zaghloul, and other company leaders also participated in the event.

The Abu Al Bakhoush, built by Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry Co. Ltd., measures 148 meters and can dredge to depths of 38 meters. It is equipped with high-power capabilities, including a 7.8 MW cutter and a total installed power of 30,040 kW, enhancing NMDC's capacity for precision dredging in demanding environments.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi highlighted the vessel's role in strengthening UAE-China partnerships, noting how it underscores the UAE's growing influence as a global economic hub. Dr. Zaghloul emphasized the Group's commitment to sustainable growth and workforce development, stating that the new vessel aligns with NMDC's strategic expansion into international markets.

Eng. Niels de Bruijn, CEO of NMDC Dredging and Marine, noted that the new dredger significantly boosts the Group's ability to undertake complex infrastructure projects, ensuring efficient and reliable service delivery across various markets.
