‘Nokhatha Abu Dhabi’ Programme Celebrates Maritime Heritage Among Youth, Says UAE Marine Sports Federation President

Abu dhabi: Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, has highlighted the success of the 'Nokhatha Abu Dhabi' programme, which is now in its fifth year. This initiative has seen a noticeable increase in student and visitor participation each year, underscoring its status as a leading community initiative. The programme is dedicated to nurturing future generations, reinforcing national identity, and preserving the UAE's rich maritime heritage. These objectives are in line with the vision of the UAE leadership and the nation's development strategy, prioritizing people, families, and society in the journey towards sustainable development.

According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the programme aligns with the goals of the 'Year of the Family 2026', underscoring the importance of collaboration between families and national institutions in fostering a sense of belonging and preserving national identity. He pointed out that heritage remains vibrant when it is imparted to younger generations through knowledge, practice, and real-life experiences, becoming an integral part of their lives and interests.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan commended the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and its Academy, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, for their role in continuously enhancing the programme. They provide an experience that effectively combines heritage, education, sport, and community engagement.
