Dubai: OMNIYAT Group has pledged AED5 million in support of the Edge of Life campaign, an initiative aimed at rescuing five million children from hunger. This campaign, which was launched during Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, seeks to raise at least AED1 billion to combat childhood hunger globally.
According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement of OMNIYAT Group's contribution was made during a Suhoor event organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) at the Armani Dubai Hotel, Burj Khalifa. The event convened leaders from philanthropy and business sectors in collaboration with His Excellency Badr Jafar, Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Business and Philanthropy.
Mahdi Amjad, Founder and Executive Chairman of OMNIYAT Group, expressed the importance of the campaign, stating that it highlights the UAE's leadership in humanitarian efforts. He emphasized the nation's dedication to improving the living conditions in underprivileged communities by ensuring children receive essential nutrition, thus protecting them from hunger.
Amjad further noted that OMNIYAT Group's donation underscores their commitment to supporting initiatives with noble goals, a holistic vision, and a singular focus on saving malnourished children. Their support aligns with a broader commitment to collaborate with MBRGI to aid vulnerable populations.
The Edge of Life campaign is organized in partnership with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger. It targets children in the most at-risk communities, particularly those impacted by natural disasters and conflicts. Alarming statistics reveal that five children under the age of 5 die every minute due to malnutrition and hunger worldwide.
The campaign continues to welcome donations from both institutions and individuals through seven main channels, including its website (www.edgeoflife.ae) and a toll-free call center (800 4999). Donations can also be made via bank transfers in UAE dirhams to the Emirates Islamic Bank account (IBAN: AE940340003708472909222), SMS contributions by sending 'LIFE' to specified numbers, and through platforms like the DubaiNow app, YallaGive.com, and Jood.ae.
