Palestinian Presidency: Stopping Settlements, Ending Occupation to Achieve Peace, security

The Palestinian Presidency on Wednesday stressed that stopping settlements and ending the Israeli occupation is one integrated package to ensure the achievement of peace, security, and stability in the region, warning that all the projects that Israel is trying to implement to sustain its occupation will not achieve anything against Palestinians’ steadfastness on their land.

In statements, the official spokesperson for the Palestinian Presidency Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that without changing the Israeli policy that seeks to annex, expand and perpetuate the occupation, the entire region will be at a dangerous historical and strategic crossroads.

He stressed the need to pressure Israel in a practical and immediate manner, away from statements and words, and obliging it to implement the decisions of international legitimacy, foremost of which is the cessation of settlement activities that violate international law, especially Resolution 2334, because the conditions on the ground can no longer tolerate more condemnations without results.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had denied, in a previous statement, the settlement freeze, stressing that “there will not be any freeze.”
