RAMALLAH: A sharp decrease has been noted in the Industrial Production Index (IPI) in Palestine during the month of January, 2024, in comparison with January, 2023, according to a report by Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS). The overall IPI in Palestine reached 80.02 during January 2024 with a sharp decrease of 25.32% compared to January 2023 (Base Year 2019 = 100). Compared with previous month, the overall IPI in Palestine reached 80.02 during January 2024 with an increase of 4.91% compared to December 2023 (Base Year 2019 = 100). IPI for January 2024 sharply increased due to the increase in the activities of Water Supply, Sewerage, Waste Management and Remediation by 72.04%, which had a share of 1.84% of the total industry, the activities of Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply by 5.77%, which had a share of 7.38% of the total industry, the activities of Manufacturing Industry by 3.11%, which had a share of 87.89% of the total industry, and the activities of Mining and Quarry ing by 2.39%, which had a share of 2.89% of the total industry.
