Almaty: Presight, a global leader in applied AI for intelligent systems, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Almaty to support the development of next-generation urban infrastructure and accelerate the city's digital transformation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was signed in Kazakhstan by Thomas Pramotedham, Chief Executive Officer of Presight, and Darkhan Satybaldy, Mayor (Akim) of Almaty. The collaboration establishes a structured framework focused on designing and deploying intelligent systems across the city's core infrastructure. Mayor Satybaldy emphasized that the partnership will enhance urban management efficiency and improve residents' quality of life through AI-based solutions.
Thomas Pramotedham highlighted Presight's commitment to building intelligent systems in Kazakhstan. He noted that the initiative in Almaty marks a move towards integrated urban infrastructure, underpinned by sovereign AI capabilities, including a data centre designed for real-time city operations. The collaboration aims to create a unified operating layer for the city, embedding intelligence directly into system functions.
Under the MoU, Presight and the City of Almaty will define a joint roadmap to design and implement intelligent urban systems. This will include system architecture, feasibility assessments, and deployment models required for scaled execution. The initiative will explore integrated solutions across urban mobility, public safety, and municipal services, such as intelligent transport systems and digital platforms for public services.
A significant aspect of the partnership is the planned development of foundational digital infrastructure, including an AI data centre. The parties will assess requirements such as compute capacity, network architecture, energy provision, cooling, security, and site location to support long-term, scalable deployment of sovereign intelligent systems.
The collaboration will also involve joint technical, regulatory, financial, and economic studies to evaluate project viability and quantify expected impact, reinforcing a deployment-led approach grounded in measurable outcomes. Additionally, Presight and the City of Almaty will engage in knowledge exchange, joint research, and ecosystem development, potentially establishing a regional Presight office to support long-term delivery and local capability building.
This partnership builds on Presight's existing work in Kazakhstan, including the Astana smart city project and the local AI supercomputer. It represents the next stage of engagement, expanding collaboration with municipal institutions and advancing the development of integrated urban infrastructure. By combining local leadership with Presight's applied intelligence capabilities, the initiative aims to deliver secure, scalable, and sovereign infrastructure that enhances city performance, strengthens resilience, and improves quality of life.
