Qatari PM Discusses Regional Military Escalation with South African Counterpart

Doha: Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, engaged in a phone conversation with Ronald Lamola, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, as reported by Qatar News Agency (QNA). The dialogue focused on the recent military escalation in the region and its implications for regional and international security and stability.

According to Emirates News Agency, both leaders explored ways to peacefully resolve disputes. The Qatari Prime Minister expressed strong condemnation of Iranian attacks on Qatari territory, labeling them as unjustifiable. He reiterated Qatar's commitment to remaining neutral in regional conflicts while promoting dialogue between Iran and the global community.

Sheikh Mohammed also highlighted the risks associated with targeting critical infrastructure, particularly those involving water, food, and energy. He warned that such actions could endanger regional populations and urged for an immediate halt to aggressive actions. The Prime Minister called for a return to negotiations, emphasizing the need for reason and wisdom to preserve regional security.

The South African Minister, Ronald Lamola, echoed the call for de-escalation. He advocated for restraint and the revival of diplomatic discussions to avert further instability in the region.
