Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah has entered into a significant cooperation agreement with Guangdong Province of China to enhance exchange and collaboration across various sectors. H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong, were present at the signing ceremony, highlighting the importance of this partnership.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement outlines key areas for collaboration, including the digital economy, scientific and technological innovation, advanced manufacturing, smart cities, and culture and tourism. The document also recognizes the progress in UAE-China relations over recent years and emphasizes the commitment of both regions to foster understanding, friendship, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
H.H. Sheikh Saud emphasized that this agreement marks a new era of collaboration while continuing the historical trade ties between Ras Al Khaimah and Guangdong, dating back to the 13th and 14
th centuries. He highlighted the shared commitment to enhancing economic, cultural, and technological connections and opening new avenues for innovation and opportunity. The agreement aims to foster mutual prosperity, strengthen bilateral ties, and contribute to global connectivity and progress.
Guangdong Province, with a population exceeding 126 million, boasts the largest economy among Chinese provinces, with a GDP of $1.9 trillion (AED6.98 trillion) in 2023. It is a major manufacturing hub, housing key sectors like electronics, automotive, textiles, pharmaceuticals, high-tech industries, finance, and real estate.
The agreement was formalized by Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, Board Member of Ras Al Khaimah’s Investment and Development Office, and Chen Guangjun, Acting Director General of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office. The signing ceremony concluded with a celebratory dinner hosted by the Guangdong Governor.
