Ras al khaimah: The Government of Ras Al Khaimah has announced the appointment of Phillipa Harrison as the new CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA). Harrison, formerly the Managing Director of Tourism Australia, is set to lead the Emirate's vision to become the "Destination of the Future."
According to Emirates News Agency, Harrison will bring her extensive international tourism experience from Australia and other global markets to Ras Al Khaimah. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAKTDA's Executive Committee, emphasized the significance of tourism to the Emirate's strategy, highlighting the rapid growth and milestones achieved in the sector. He expressed confidence in Harrison's ability to align with Ras Al Khaimah's ambitious tourism goals.
Harrison expressed her excitement about joining at a pivotal time, noting Ras Al Khaimah's status as an international success story. She looks forward to contributing to further growth in the coming years. Her appointment is expected to advance the government's objectives to solidify Ras Al Khaimah's position as a leading sustainable tourism destination. The Emirate welcomed a record 650,000 visitors in the first half of 2025, with a target of over 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030.
