RSF announces two-day unilateral ceasefire in Sudan for Eid

Commander of the Sudanese Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Mohammad Hamdan Dagalo announced on Tuesday, a two-day unilateral ceasefire for Eid Al-Adha.

“We are declaring a unilateral ceasefire, except for self-defense situations, on the eve of Eid and on the day of Eid Al-Adha,” Dagalo said on Monday in an audio recording.

Meanwhile, violence expanded after Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu, attacked Sudanese army sites in Blue Nile rigon.

The United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) expressed concern about the recent violence in Kurmuk locality of the Blue Nile Region.

UNITAMS said in a statment that violence erupted between the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, and the Sudanese Armed Forces on 25 and 26 June, in Deim Mansour, Abu Nezir and Korabody villages in Kurmuk locality, forcing hundreds of civilians to leave the country.

UNITAMS urges all parties involved to immediately cease fighting in the interest of protecting the local population.

Since April 15, Sudan has been witnessing clashes between the army and RSF in Khartoum and other cities, which have so far claimed the lives of thousands and led to the displacement of about two and a half million people.
