Dubai: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has obtained intellectual property recognition from the Global Benchmarking Network for its Dubai Traffix programme in traffic engineering, following its accreditation and classification within the seven-star category as one of the world's most innovative best practices in this field. This achievement consolidates Dubai's global standing among leading engineering practices and experiences, adding a new milestone to RTA's record that reaffirms its ability to share its successful practices to cities worldwide.
According to Emirates News Agency, Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, stated that the Dubai Traffix programme marks a shift in modern government systems in traffic engineering. It provides support for infrastructure systems, the economy, and the master plans of modern cities. The programme has resulted in the adoption of over 4,000 traffic impact studies for development projects and the signing of 180 agreements between RTA and development entities for implementing traffic solutions and infrastructure.
The Dubai Traffix platform is an integrated digital system that manages procedures from assessing land use and traffic movement to issuing final approvals. It integrates with RTA's internal systems and Dubai Municipality's external systems, enhancing the linkage between land use and strategic plans for road and transport projects to accommodate urban growth and maintain Dubai's competitiveness in global indicators.
Al Banna added that Dubai Traffix is the result of efforts to study traffic impacts, leading to a system that is among the most advanced for assessing traffic impacts in modern cities. It serves as a unified platform that streamlines procedures, enhances urban planning efficiency, and supports road and public transport network planning across the emirate.
The platform has been under development and updates since its launch in 2017, and was registered as RTA's intellectual property in early 2024. In March 2025, the Global Benchmarking Network's International Jury Committee rated the programme highly for innovation, performance, and efficiency, classifying it within the highest seven-star category worldwide.
RTA continues to develop its systems and engineering programmes for global competitiveness, aligning with its vision of being a leader in seamless and sustainable mobility. The Dubai Traffix programme exemplifies RTA's corporate values of innovation, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence, concluded Al Banna.
