RTA Opens Key Bridge at Al Qudra Road Intersection, Enhancing Traffic Flow and Connectivity

Dubai: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated a 600-metre bridge featuring four lanes at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and the link road connecting Arabian Ranches with Dubai Studio City. This development is part of a larger initiative to improve the main intersections along Al Qudra Road.

According to Emirates News Agency, the new bridge significantly enhances traffic flow on Al Qudra Road and the connecting road between Arabian Ranches and Dubai Studio City. The capacity has increased by 191 percent, allowing for 19,200 vehicles per hour, up from 6,600 vehicles per hour. Additionally, the waiting time at the junction has been reduced by 55 percent, cutting delays from 113 seconds to 52 seconds.

The RTA plans to open the northern bridge on February 15 at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. This 700-metre structure will provide two lanes in each direction, improving traffic towards Al Qudra City and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at RTA, noted that the Al Qudra Road Development Project aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and is monitored by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The project aims to support Dubai's urban expansion and address the emirate's growing development needs.

Al Tayer further explained that the project includes upgrading key intersections and constructing bridges extending 2,700 metres. The existing road will be widened and improved over a total length of 11.6 km. This initiative will serve residential and development areas, accommodating an estimated 400,000 residents and visitors.

He emphasized that the project enhances traffic efficiency, reduces congestion, and shortens travel times between key destinations. It also improves road safety standards and supports urban growth and economic activity in the communities served.

The RTA is also upgrading the intersection between Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street with a 700-metre bridge. Additionally, a 500-metre bridge will serve traffic from Al Qudra Road to Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street towards Jebel Ali.

Further developments include a 900-metre bridge for traffic towards the city centre and Dubai International Airport, along with 3 km of service roads to enhance connectivity. The intersection upgrade will increase capacity to 19,400 vehicles per hour and reduce waiting time from 393 seconds to 60 seconds.

The project also involves widening Al Qudra Road and constructing new roads to improve access to surrounding developments. Extra lanes will be added on Emirates Road to enhance connectivity across the area.
