RTA Opens Mall of Emirates Smart Bus Station as Dubai’s First Smart Transit Hub

Dubai: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated the Mall of the Emirates Smart Bus Station, marking a significant development in the city's pursuit of an integrated public transport network powered by digital technologies and smart solutions. This new facility aims to enhance customer service and solidify Dubai's position as a global leader in sustainable mobility.

According to Emirates News Agency, the station features a modern design aligned with RTA's corporate identity, offering 24/7 interactive digital services to reduce waiting times and ensure a seamless customer journey. Serving 11 bus routes, the station is directly connected to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station, facilitating convenient transfers between different modes of transport.

The smart station represents an advanced model for the future of public transport stations in Dubai, combining innovation, technology, and sustainability. The RTA plans to expand this model to further integrate the city's public transport network and provide smart, sustainable mobility solutions that align with customers' aspirations and future ambitions.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, stated that the opening of the first smart bus station marks a major step forward in RTA's strategy to create an integrated and attractive environment for public transport users. The initiative aligns with the leadership's vision to make Dubai the best city to live, work, and visit by redefining everyday mobility through advanced technology.

Al Tayer emphasized RTA's commitment to enhancing customer service by leveraging digital technologies and smart solutions to deliver comfort and efficiency for users, while boosting the public transport network's appeal. The station incorporates advanced systems for crowd management and violation detection through AI-powered cameras, enhancing safety and user experience.

Covering an area of approximately 147 square meters, the station can accommodate up to 20 customers at a time. It also includes a dedicated rest area for drivers, creating an integrated operational environment. The station design balances operational efficiency with user comfort, ensuring integrated services that combine flexibility and innovation.

The station features advanced digital systems and services, including a real-time information display that provides maps, arrival times, and other essential information. It integrates with Dubai Metro to show train arrival times and with taxi services to provide instant information on taxi availability. Furthermore, a smart kiosk offers digital customer services, such as journey planning and direct access to the Call Centre.

Equipped with real-time bus arrival displays and occupancy levels, the station enables users to make informed mobility decisions, reducing congestion and spreading demand effectively. It also includes modern devices for ticket purchases and a smart vending machine for beverages and loyalty points, enhancing user comfort.

For safety and operations management, the station is fitted with AI-powered cameras for accurate crowd monitoring and violation detection. These technologies help maintain operational discipline and provide real-time data to support decision-making.

The station's development adheres to the highest international sustainability standards. It includes solar panels for power generation and smart sensors for air quality monitoring, reflecting RTA's commitment to environmental practices and Dubai's sustainability goals.
