Saqr Ghobash and German Bundestag Vice President Focus on Enhancing Parliamentary Cooperation

Abu dhabi: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), and Omid Nouripour, Vice President of the German Bundestag, convened at the Council's headquarters in Abu Dhabi to discuss enhancing cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Germany. Their discussions aimed at bolstering coordination on issues of mutual interest within regional and international parliamentary forums, reflecting the strategic partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to regional and international security and stability.

According to Emirates News Agency, the conversations also addressed recent regional developments, including the Iranian missile attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and several other countries. The meeting also covered international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, emphasizing the need for non-interference in the internal affairs of states and the adoption of diplomatic and political solutions to address crises.

The leaders highlighted the significance of ensuring security and the smooth flow of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, noting its critical role as a pillar for the stability of global energy markets and the world economy. They also called for safeguarding maritime routes and rejecting threats that could undermine security or disrupt international trade, urging for strengthened international efforts to keep the strait open and secure for navigation.

Both parties emphasized the role of parliaments in building communication bridges between countries and advancing shared interests. They underscored the importance of peaceful solutions to crises and the contribution of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting government efforts and facilitating dialogue on various issues.
