Abu dhabi: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), held separate meetings at the Council's headquarters with ambassadors from Serbia, Trkiye, Ireland, and Poland. Vladimir Maric, Ltfullah G¶ktas, Alison Milton, and Grzegorz Gawin represented their respective countries in discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between the UAE and these nations, particularly in parliamentary domains.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meetings were attended by several FNC members and focused on strengthening strategic partnerships in areas such as trade, energy, culture, and education. The importance of high-level reciprocal visits was highlighted as a means to advance these relations. Ghobash addressed the current regional developments, emphasizing the serious implications of the Iranian attacks on the UAE and GCC countries, and stressed the UAE's condemnation of these acts.
Ghobash underscored the need to strengthen parliamentary relations with the parliaments of friendly countries, advocating for parliamentary diplomacy as a crucial tool for cooperation and supporting international peace and security amid global challenges. He emphasized aligning parliamentary cooperation with Serbia's National Assembly to match the strategic and economic partnership between the two nations, referring to President Aleksandar Vucic's visit to the UAE in March 2026.
In discussions with the Turkish Ambassador, Ghobash praised Trkiye's hosting of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul, recognizing Trkiye's parliamentary and political stature. He stressed maintaining the positive momentum of the UAE-Trkiye strategic partnership through dialogue and coordination.
With the Irish Ambassador, Ghobash highlighted the necessity of matching parliamentary cooperation to the strategic relations between the UAE and Ireland. He called for activating the parliamentary friendship committee to foster bilateral ties and enhance cooperation for mutual benefit.
During the meeting with the Polish CDA, Ghobash affirmed the strong UAE-Poland relations and emphasized enhancing parliamentary cooperation to support political and economic ties, fostering dialogue, and advancing shared interests.
