Ras Al Khaimah: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, affirmed that the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon has played a significant role in enhancing the emirate's reputation as a leading destination for sports and tourism by attracting some of the world's top professional athletes.
According to Emirates News Agency, the emirate has been actively developing its sports infrastructure, promoting awareness about the importance of physical activity, and encouraging participation across all segments of society in sporting events to improve the quality of life. Hosting world-class sporting events aligns with Ras Al Khaimah's vision to emerge as a global leader in the sports tourism sector.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr made this statement during the 18th Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon held on Al Marjan Island, welcoming elite runners from around the globe as well as numerous community participants. He emphasized that the marathon's success over recent years has contributed to the emirate's legacy of achievements and its progress in development.
Furthermore, Sheikh Saud highlighted that the half marathon symbolizes the emirate's dedication to integrating sport into the community's culture and lifestyle. Sheikh Saud officially commenced the race, which included a 21-kilometre distance and additional courses of 10, 5, and 2 kilometres, allowing participation from people of various age groups and fitness levels. He also awarded the winners and praised their performances in the competition.
