Saud bin Saqr Witnesses First Trial Flight of Electric Flying Vehicle in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras al khaimah: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, today witnessed the launch of the first trial flight of an electric flying vehicle by XPENG AEROHT, a leading company from China, in the skies over the emirate. The event was held at Al Jazirah Aviation Club, attended by Zhang Yiming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the UAE, alongside several sheikhs and senior officials. This demonstration signifies a significant step toward the future of smart and sustainable mobility in the UAE.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Saud emphasized that the trial reflects the UAE's vision of fostering a future driven by innovation and sustainability. It highlights Ras Al Khaimah's dedication to embracing cutting-edge technological solutions in partnership with major international tech companies. This initiative bolsters the emirate's status as a preferred destination for living, working, investment, and tourism.

H.H. Sheikh Saud expressed his ambition for Ras Al Khaimah to transform unconventional ideas into tangible achievements, contributing to a modern, sustainable urban environment. He noted that the trial flight of the electric flying vehicle marks a new phase in developing smart, eco-friendly transportation solutions aimed at improving the quality of life for residents and supporting the vision of a diverse and resilient economy that anticipates future challenges.

He further stated that the crucial challenge of the present time involves constructing more sustainable cities and smarter, less polluting transport systems. Additionally, the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah observed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the RAK Transport Authority and XPENG AEROHT. This agreement, with XPENG AEROHT headquartered in Guangzhou, China, aims to develop and deploy flying vehicle technologies for tourism, leisure, and rescue operations in the emirate.
