Saudi Arabia and US Establish Strategic Economic Partnership

Riyadh: His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, and US President Donald J. Trump co-chaired the Saudi-US Summit at the Royal Court in Al-Yamamah Palace today. The summit focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations across multiple sectors, discussing regional and international developments, and addressing mutual security and stability concerns.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Crown Prince and the US President signed a Strategic Economic Partnership agreement, marking a significant step in bilateral cooperation. They also witnessed the exchange and announcement of various bilateral agreements and memoranda, including a memorandum of understanding for energy cooperation between the Kingdom's Ministry of Energy and the US Department of Energy.

Key agreements included a memorandum of intent for modernising the Saudi Armed Forces through future defense capabilities, signed between the Saudi Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense. Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation in mining and mineral resources was established between the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the US Department of Energy.

Further agreements involved a letter of intent to enhance joint cooperation on military systems and training, a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Ministry of Interior's International Partnership Programme and the FBI, and a letter of intent concerning the development of health capabilities for the Saudi Armed Forces with the US Department of Defense.

The summit also resulted in a memorandum of understanding for judicial cooperation, a space cooperation agreement between the Saudi Space Agency and NASA, and a Customs Mutual Assistance Agreement. An amendment protocol to the Saudi Arabia-U.S. Air Transport Agreement was also signed, alongside cooperation agreements in medical research, conservation, and cultural collaboration between institutions from both countries.
