Sharjah: Sharjah has successfully attracted 142 investment projects valued at AED7.74 billion in 2025, marking a significant milestone in the emirate's economic development strategy. Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, the Chief Executive Officer of the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah), emphasized the office's future focus on high-growth markets that align with the emirate's priority sectors.
According to Emirates News Agency, Al Musharrkh revealed that the Sharjah FDI Office plans to explore new opportunities in Asian and regional markets. Additionally, there will be efforts to strengthen ties with key markets such as India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. This strategy aims to leverage technology, manufacturing, logistics, and innovation expertise from these regions.
The participation of Sharjah in the AIM Congress 2026 underscores its intent to solidify its position on the global investment stage. The event serves as a platform to engage with investors and decision-makers, while also highlighting Sharjah's competitive advantages and investment prospects. Al Musharrkh identified India, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States as pivotal sources of investment, attributing the emirate's appeal to its diversified economy, strategic location, and robust infrastructure.
In terms of sectors, technology and artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, sustainability, logistics, infrastructure, food, and manufacturing are poised to attract significant foreign direct investment. These sectors offer promising growth opportunities and align with Sharjah's long-term economic vision.
Al Musharrkh also shared insights from his participation in a session during the congress's opening day, which revolved around quality investment. He emphasized that the true measure of investment lies not only in capital but also in its developmental impact, including job creation and local economic growth. Sharjah's recent success is a testament to this approach, with the emirate witnessing the creation of 5,673 jobs from the investment projects, approximately 75 percent of which are now operational.
Moreover, the development of infrastructure and supply chains, particularly the expansion plans for Khorfakkan Port to handle 10 million containers, plays a critical role in enhancing Sharjah's trade connections with global markets.
