Sharjah: The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) convened for its regular meeting under the leadership of Ahmed Ibrahim Al Mail, Chairman of Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The meeting focused on discussing strategies to develop the award and enhance its impact on society.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Board approved a new indicators programme comprising 80 specific performance indicators designed to improve work efficiency and elevate standards. This move underscores the Board's commitment to transparency and professionalism in achieving the award's objectives. Additionally, the Board reviewed the revenues from endowments dedicated to supporting the award's activities, emphasizing sustainable investments to bolster its pioneering role in promoting volunteer values and social responsibility.
In a bid to foster continuous development, the Board examined the award's digital transformation plan. This initiative aims to streamline procedures and support future efforts in volunteer work, aligning with the award's vision of becoming a leading platform for promoting the culture of volunteering and encouraging innovative community initiatives.
Ahmed Ibrahim Al Mail expressed gratitude for the support and guidance from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi. He highlighted that the adoption of the new indicators programme and the digital transformation plan marks a significant shift in the award's journey toward achieving its goals, inspiring individuals and institutions to engage in volunteer projects that contribute to sustainable development.
Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of SAVW, reiterated the award's commitment to fostering a culture of volunteering across various sectors, serving as a platform for creativity and community service. Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of SAVW, noted that the meeting also reviewed the 2024 results, with the award having honored 1,259 winners over 21 editions in 22 years. The previous edition recorded 125,389 volunteer hours, 3,038 volunteers, and AED47,033 in financial support.
Al Belushi added that the award has expanded its categories to include 14 segments, enhancing its comprehensiveness and societal impact. She emphasized the award's focus on community awareness, as evidenced by organizing 76 awareness lectures and producing specialized publications.
