Sharjah Chamber and Portuguese Business Council Explore New Avenues for Private Sector Cooperation

Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently held discussions with the Portuguese Business Council to explore opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the private sectors of Sharjah and Portugal. The focus of the meeting was on strengthening the role of the Council in supporting the Portuguese business community in Sharjah through trade missions, economic conferences, and forums, aligning these efforts with the strategic objectives of the Sharjah Chamber to foster bilateral trade and investment growth.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting, which took place at 'Bait Elowal,' was organized by the Sharjah Chamber in collaboration with the Portuguese Business Council. The event was part of the celebrations for Portugal's National Day and was attended by key figures such as Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; Waleed AbdelRahman BuKhatir, Second Vice Chairman of SCCI; and Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI. Other attendees included Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the International Relations Department at SCCI; Heba Al Marzouqi, Head of the Business Councils and Joint Committees Department at SCCI; Lurdes Eusebio, Chairperson of the Portuguese Business Council in Sharjah; and Manuel Couto Miranda, Economic Advisor at the Portuguese Trade and Investment Authority.

The meeting featured a presentation film that highlighted the achievements and collaborative milestones of the Portuguese Business Council with the Sharjah Chamber. These joint initiatives and programs have contributed to a strengthened business environment and have successfully attracted Portuguese investments to the emirate. Discussions also centered around development plans aimed at enhancing the Council's operational efficiency and reinforcing its role as a key platform for promoting economic partnerships and investment cooperation in priority sectors.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, in his welcoming remarks, congratulated the Portuguese Business Council's members on Portugal's National Day and highlighted the advancement in bilateral economic ties, driven by strategic agreements that have laid the foundation for a new phase of economic partnership. He emphasized Sharjah's commitment to broadening its global partnerships, particularly with high-potential markets like Portugal, in sectors such as the new economy, sustainable tourism, smart agriculture, and circular and green economies.

Lurdes Eusebio, Chairperson of the Portuguese Business Council, marked the gathering as a new milestone in collaboration with the Sharjah Chamber. She emphasized joint efforts to enhance the presence of Portuguese enterprises in Sharjah, pointing to the emirate's attractive business landscape, supported by diversified investment prospects, robust infrastructure, and a range of entrepreneurial incentives.
