Sharjah Crown Prince Inaugurates Sharjah Airport Training Centre

Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the Sharjah Airport Professional Training Centre on Wednesday morning. The centre is part of initiatives to support and advance the civil aviation sector in the UAE, contributing to its growth.

According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Khaled bin Issam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Sharjah Airport Professional Training Centre, delivered a speech welcoming the Crown Prince and attendees. He emphasised the centre's role in advancing the civil aviation system, enhancing the skills of sector employees, and increasing Emirati representation in the workforce.

Sheikh Khaled noted Sharjah's continued excellence in various fields, including aviation, aligning with the visionary goals of the UAE leadership. He mentioned the country's progress in becoming a global aviation hub through investments in infrastructure and technology, highlighting international partnerships and commitments to sustainability.

He also addressed the importance of legislative, regulatory, and technical development in aviation, improving personnel efficiency, and encouraging innovation. The Crown Prince and guests viewed a presentation on the centre's establishment, services, and training programmes, aimed at preparing certified air traffic controllers and a skilled local workforce.

The Crown Prince honoured individuals who contributed to the centre's launch and toured the building, designed for professional training and accredited by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. He explored classrooms, simulators, and other facilities, learning about the latest building specifications and modern technology used.

The centre features a 3D simulation system simulating scenarios in airports worldwide, allowing communication with pilots and ground staff and training for vehicle operators and airport ground crew. The Crown Prince met Maryam Al Hammadi, the UAE's first female air traffic controller, who graduated from the centre.

The Crown Prince visited classrooms accommodating over 100 students and met with students from various locations. He learned about the efforts of airport police and customs through training programmes focused on airport security and advanced detection devices. The event was attended by several dignitaries and senior officials from the aviation sector.
