Niamey: The 4th Arab Poetry Forum commenced in Niamey under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Organised by the Cultural Affairs Department at the Department of Culture in Sharjah, this event is in collaboration with the Niger Cultural Club and features ten poets.
According to Emirates News Agency, Amadou Ali Ibrahim, President of the Niger Cultural Club and General Coordinator of the Forum, expressed gratitude to the Cultural Affairs Department for its efforts. He emphasized the initiative’s role in promoting the Arabic language and reviving Africa’s heritage. Ibrahim highlighted that the forum showcases poetry as a bridge for communication and celebrates the Arab poetry movement’s growth in Niger.
Ibrahim also announced the forum’s new addition-a book signing ceremony-to support the writing movement and honor educators and writers. Professor Kon© Soualiho welcomed poets and commended Sharjah’s support, viewing the forum as a bridge between African and Arab cultures.
Dr Mohamed Ag praised the forum’s role in fostering Arab-African cooperation, seeing it as an opportunity for dialogue and brotherhood. The forum concluded with a book signing ceremony for works by Professor Soualiho and Dr Ag.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Professor Kon© Soualiho, Dr Mohamed Ag Mohamed, Professor Ali Tasaa, Ibrahim Atmouna, and Dr Abdul Razaq Chosso.
