Sharjah: In a significant stride towards digital leadership and the empowerment of national talent, the Sharjah Digital Department, Rubu' Qarn Centre for Science and Technology, and Sharjah Youth Council have jointly organized the Sharjah Digital Hackathon, as part of the Sharjah Government Pavilion at GITEX Global 2025.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event, scheduled from 13th to 16th October 2025, is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing government innovation and shaping Sharjah's digital future. Under the theme 'AI applications for infrastructure development', the hackathon seeks to foster young talent and motivate participants to create practical technological solutions that support Sharjah's digital transformation.
Aligning with the UAE's 2031 vision and artificial intelligence strategy, the hackathon acts as an intensive intellectual and technical marathon. It brings together youth from Rubu' Qarn and government employees to collaborate on innovative smart infrastructure solutions using modern methodologies such as design thinking and open innovation.
The hackathon focuses on smart traffic management to reduce congestion, predictive maintenance for facilities, energy efficiency in buildings, and interactive digital government services. A team of mentors and technical experts will guide participants through all stages, from idea generation and prototype design to presenting their final solutions before the judging panel.
The event includes interactive sessions on AI tools, workshops on design thinking, and prototyping, culminating in an awards ceremony to recognize the winning teams. The ceremony will be attended by representatives of the organizing entities, celebrating the spirit of innovation and collaboration among Sharjah's youth.
Winning solutions will be linked to incubation pathways to ensure their practical impact and continuity, supporting Sharjah's ambitions for comprehensive digital integration and enhancing community quality of life.
