Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center Launches Seventh Edition of Access Sharjah Challenge Focused on Education Sector

Sharjah: The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) has initiated the application process for the seventh edition of the Access Sharjah Challenge (ASC), concentrating on the education sector this year. The initiative is designed to empower global startups that offer innovative learning solutions, in line with the UAE's National Strategy for Higher Education 2030. According to Emirates News Agency, the ASC 2025, with a prize pool amounting to AED500,000, invites applications from education-focused startups that have validated prototypes and a proven history of collaboration with corporate or government entities. The application window remains open until August 17. Two winners will be awarded AED250,000 each in equity-free grants to pilot their solutions across four institutions in Sharjah: Alsedra Private School, Khalifah Al Hamzah American School, Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary School, and Al Badee Nursery. The event, organized by Sheraa in collaboration with the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SP EA) and Sharjah Education Academy (SEA), aims to address two key areas: the Future-Ready Skills Challenge, which focuses on equipping students with essential digital and foundational skills, and the Arabic in Early Childhood Challenge, which seeks to instill a profound connection with the Arabic language from an early age. Sara Abdelaziz Al Nuaimi, CEO of Sheraa, emphasized that the initiative mirrors Sharjah's strategic commitment to education. She stated, "ASC 2025 offers a dynamic platform where forward-thinking ideas converge with strategic ambition. Through this initiative, we aim to enrich a vibrant learning ecosystem that nurtures lifelong learning and sparks intellectual curiosity." Ali Al Hosani, Director-General of SPEA, underscored the authority's role in shaping the Future-Ready Skills Challenge, noting that innovation is critical in shaping the future and supporting sustainable development. Professor Pauline Taylor-Guy, Chancellor of SEA, introduced the Arabic Language in Early Childhood challe nge as SEA's contribution to restoring Arabic as a core element of identity. The program targets startups at the Pre-Series A to Series C+ stages, requiring applicants to be open to establishing a local presence in Sharjah to pilot and expand regionally. The selection process will shortlist 10 startups from over 2,000 anticipated applications through a two-stage evaluation, including criteria-based filtering and interview-based assessments. Further program activities include a Champions Training session on August 20 and a Startup Readiness Sprint on August 27-28, leading to the final pitch on September 22, 2025. The winners will showcase their pilots during the Sharjah International Summit on Improvement in Education on February 14-15, 2026.
