Sharjah Fish Resources Authority Unveils ‘Marsa’ Platform for Fishermen’s Digital Services

Sharjah:The Sharjah Fish Resources Authority (SFRA) has entered into a partnership with Smart Galaxy Software Solutions (SGS) to develop "Marsa," a comprehensive digital platform aimed at managing the affairs of fishermen and providing them with essential services. This initiative is part of the Authority's effort to enhance service delivery and further digital transformation, aligning with the strategic goals of the Emirate of Sharjah to improve government service efficiency and streamline customer interactions.

According to Wam, the contract for the development of "Marsa" was signed by His Excellency Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazi, Chairman of SFRA, and Dr Osama Mahmoud Othman, General Manager of Smart Galaxy Software Solutions. The platform is designed to support over 1,300 registered fishermen by offering 17 digital services, such as issuing and renewing fishing licenses, transferring ownership of fishing vessels, and managing permits for artificial fishing reefs.

The "Marsa" platform aims to automate internal procedures of the Authority, from application receipt and approval to site inspections and electronic archiving. Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazi highlighted that this digital platform marks a significant step in the Authority's journey towards digital transformation, simplifying access to services, reducing transaction times, and enhancing user experience.

Services on the "Marsa" platform will be accessible through the Sharjah Digital Platform, providing a unified digital interface for government services. This will allow fishermen to manage their transactions with a single account, eliminating the need for repeated document submissions and ensuring a more convenient service experience.

The platform is expected to significantly reduce transaction processing times, minimize the necessity for in-person visits, and offer 24/7 service access. It will also deliver accurate and current data to aid decision-making and development in the fisheries sector. The agreement also encompasses technical support, maintenance services, and training for SFRA staff to ensure the platform's efficient operation and continued development of digital services.
