Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department Opens Four New Mosques in Sharjah City

Sharjah: The Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department has opened four new mosques in Sharjah City, including three mosques in the Al Suyoh suburb and one in the Al Rahmaniyah suburb. The mosques can accommodate approximately 4,000 male and female worshippers. This initiative aligns with the vision and aspirations of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aiming to enable citizens and residents to perform their religious rituals with peace and ease.

According to Emirates News Agency, the four mosques feature diverse architectural styles that blend Islamic and modern architectural elements, and were built at the expense of philanthropists. Their opening is part of the department's plan for the current year to meet community needs and provide an integrated spiritual environment for worshippers, contributing to strengthening the social fabric and consolidating Islamic values.

Al Ghaith Mosque, located in Al Mawridah 8 of the Al Siouh suburb, covers a total area of 11,312 square meters. It includes a prayer hall and service facilities, accommodating 700 worshippers, with space for 130 women. The Department also inaugurated the Unays ibn Qatada Mosque in the same suburb, covering 3,532 square meters, and can accommodate 700 worshippers, including 140 women.

Rafi' bin Malik Mosque, built in the Al-Morada 4 area of the Al-Siouh suburb, spans 3,605 square meters and can accommodate 600 worshippers, including 82 women. In the Al-Rahmaniya suburb, the Bab Al-Rayyan Mosque was inaugurated in the Shaghrafa 2 area, built on 11,940 square meters, and can accommodate 2,000 worshippers, including 110 women.

Abdullah Khalifa Al Subousi, Chairman of the Department, highlighted that Sharjah's mosques represent a unique architectural masterpiece embodying Islamic heritage while meeting modern development demands. The support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for these projects underscores a comprehensive vision to build a balanced society blending authenticity and innovation, affirming Sharjah's position as a cultural and religious beacon for future generations.
