Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the closing ceremony of the 35th edition of Sharjah Theatre Days at the Sharjah Cultural Palace. The event also saw the presence of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah honoured Kuwaiti artist Mohammed Jaber, winner of the 19th Sharjah Award for Theatre Creativity, and Emirati artist Jamal Al Sumaiti for their contributions to theatre. The ceremony featured visual presentations on the careers of these artists, showcasing their influence on theatre and their efforts in nurturing young talent in the Emirati and Arab theatre scene.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi awarded several accolades during the event. The play "Hayr Qarmousha" by the Sharjah National Theatre was recognized for the best integrated theatrical performance. Elham Mohammed received the best theatre direction award for "Nisf Laila" by the Khorfakkan Arts Theatre. Ismail Abdullah won the best theatrical composition award for "Hayr Qarmousha." Other notable winners included Abdullah Al Khadim for best first-role actor and Sara Al Saadi for best actress in a leading role.
The awards also recognized Shaaban Sbeit, Badriya Al Ali, and Mansour Al Zaabi for their acting performances. Amani Balaj received the Arab Artist Award for "Nisf Laila," and Dubai Al Ahli Theatre was given the special jury prize for "Sona." Various technical awards were also distributed, highlighting achievements in d©cor, makeup, lighting, musical composition, and costumes.
The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Dr Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler's Office; Abdullah Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture; and Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Protocol and Hospitality Department, along with senior officials, artists, media personnel, and theatre professionals.
