Sharjah Ruler Places Imams and Muezzins on Government General Staff

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has initiated a significant directive placing all imams and muezzins in the emirate's mosques on the Sharjah government's general staff. This move aligns them with the benefits enjoyed by other government employees, reflecting the importance of their roles in the community.

According to Emirates News Agency, the directive ensures that imams and muezzins will now receive promotions, various allowances, health insurance, and a work nature allowance of AED3,000. This marks a considerable enhancement in their employment conditions, recognizing their service to the houses of God.

Furthermore, His Highness has stipulated that imams and muezzins will retain their accrued leave balance if they opt not to utilize it. In collaboration with the Department of Islamic Affairs, they will receive the cash equivalent for any unused leave. This initiative underscores the commitment to supporting these religious roles in Sharjah.
