Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club Takes Lead in Round 3 of Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship

Fujairah: Round 3 of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (No-Gi) commenced at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, showcasing intense competition among top clubs and academies. Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club emerged as the leader in the medal standings on the opening day, followed by Palms Sports - Team 777 in second place, with ADMA securing third.

According to Emirates News Agency, the championship featured closely contested matches in the Under-12, Under-14, and Under-16 categories, with many victories determined by narrow margins. The high-paced competition underscored the necessity of quick reactions and precise execution, especially in No-Gi matches where errors can be costly. As the rounds proceed, each result gains significance in the overall standings, compelling clubs to maintain focus and consistency across all categories.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Sheikha Saeed Al Kaabi, Member of the Federal National Council; Saeed Ali Al Ajel, Chairman of the UAE Sports for All Federation; Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; Sabreen Hassan Al Yamahi, Director of the Dibba Branch at Fujairah Charity Association; Dr Latefah Khamis Al Abdouli, Board Member of Dibba Sports and Cultural Club; and Safiya Al Attar, Head of Quality and Governance Office at Fujairah Charity Association.

Yousef Abdullah Al Batran commented on the technical prowess displayed by athletes during the first day, emphasizing that success in the matches extends beyond basic skills to encompass effective match management, including timing and decision-making. This progress is apparent across all age groups and reflects the diligent work of clubs, as well as the supportive role of families present at the event, which directly aids in the athletes' development.

Sheikha Saeed Al Kaabi highlighted the championship's role in promoting jiu-jitsu within the community, stating that the event exemplifies the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation's efforts in organizing competitions that allow athletes to compete and improve.

Mariam Al Blooshi, mother of an ADMA Academy participant, expressed that the championship challenges young athletes to handle pressure and make quick decisions, thereby enhancing their confidence and character. The experience extends beyond outcomes, fostering discipline and a strategic mindset.

Abdullah Al Kindi from Baniyas Club, a gold medalist in the Under-14 37 kg division, shared that the competition demanded complete focus, particularly in the swift No-Gi matches. He credited his family's presence for providing motivation and confidence, which he believes enhances his performance and learning in each match.

The championship will continue with competitions in the Under-18, Adults', and Masters divisions, with expectations of heightened competition as the event progresses.
