Dubai: Showcasing Dubai's vision for the future of AI, the second edition of the Dubai AI Festival, a key part of Dubai AI Week, commenced today under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid said, "Dubai AI Festival stands as a testament to our vision of positioning Dubai as a global leader in artificial intelligence innovation. The Festival reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where creativity, collaboration, and cutting-edge technology converge to shape a brighter future for all."
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the importance of AI in driving economic growth and improving quality of life. He highlighted Dubai's commitment to leading in AI innovation and ensuring the city remains at the forefront of the global digital economy. His visit to the festival included a tour of the exhibition area, starting at the Dubai AI Campus pavilion, where he explored cutting-edge AI solutions and developments.
In addition to the Dubai AI Campus, Sheikh Hamdan visited the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation pavilion, which showcased Chinese start-ups and opportunities for collaboration, and the South Korea pavilion, highlighting the technological advancements of South Korean start-ups.
The festival, under the theme 'Enabling Digital Economies,' attracted over 10,000 industry experts, 500 investors, and innovators from more than 100 countries. Organized by the Dubai AI Campus in partnership with the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, the event aims to provide networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange opportunities.
Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC; and Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority.
The festival hosted over 100 speakers from global organizations discussing AI governance, ethics, investment, and real-world applications. Prominent speakers included Dr. Werner Vogels, Parminder Bhatia, Bhavish Aggarwal, Scott Harden, and others who shared insights on AI's role in connecting global communities and its transformative impact across various industries.
The Dubai AI Festival will conclude on 24 April 2025, further solidifying Dubai's position at the forefront of the global digital economy, with over 800 AI companies currently operating in the emirate, 66% of which have chosen Dubai as their global headquarters.
