Sharjah:H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, highlighted the importance of heritage in societal reform and unity during a recent appearance on the "Direct Line" program on Sharjah Radio and Television.
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Sultan discussed the success of the Kalba Jashe and Sahnah Festival, explaining the traditional process of making "jashe" and "sahnah." He urged the youth to adhere to religious teachings, heritage, and good manners, expressing his dedication to preserving cultural traditions. The Ruler emphasized his commitment to ensuring the happiness and comfort of the people, which he believes fosters a nurturing environment for teaching values and heritage.
Sheikh Sultan also mentioned the launch of Al Wusta channel to promote Bedouin heritage, entrusting its content to those familiar with Bedouin life. He expressed his satisfaction with the increasing competition in hosting heritage events across the region, noting Al Dhaid's prominence in poetry gatherings.
Furthermore, the Sharjah Ruler highlighted the emirate's achievements, such as being named Arab Culture Capital and a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. He stressed the importance of initiatives like the home care program, which supports the elderly, ensuring they remain surrounded by family in a comfortable environment.
Sheikh Sultan concluded by discussing societal improvements, such as the introduction of a three-day weekend to enhance family life, and the emirate's effective handling of social issues, including financial difficulties and drug prevention.
