Sheikh Theyab Directs Annual Emirates Open Masters Games in Abu Dhabi

Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, has announced the initiation of an annual Emirates Open Masters Games in Abu Dhabi. This initiative aims to promote physical health and foster sustainable community engagement in the region.

According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement was made during an event where H.H. Sheikh Theyab honoured teams, organising committees, partners, and sponsors who contributed to the success of the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026. Sheikh Theyab expressed gratitude to all involved for their efforts and dedication, highlighting the keen interest of President H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in promoting sports as a lifestyle that benefits the community.

Sheikh Theyab also acknowledged the support of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, in advancing physical health and community engagement across Emirati society. He extended thanks to athletes from over 90 countries who participated in the Open Masters Games, enriching the international competitions.

Commending the organising teams, volunteers, sponsors, and partners, Sheikh Theyab noted their efforts in showcasing UAE values. The announcement of the Emirates Open Masters Games follows the success of the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026, which saw participation from more than 25,000 athletes competing in 38 sports from February 6-15, 2026.

Details of the annual Emirates Open Masters Games, to be held in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and other stakeholders, will be disclosed at a later date.
