Sharjah: The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and the Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi Humanitarian Foundation (KSQF) have formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance global efforts aimed at safeguarding children in communities facing significant challenges. This collaborative initiative focuses on preventing the exploitation of children who are vulnerable to various risks.
According to Emirates News Agency, this partnership aligns with KSQF's mission, initiated under the guidance of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of KSQF. The Foundation is dedicated to upholding the humanitarian legacy of Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi. Its work spans across countries to protect children from exploitation, empower communities in challenging situations, and support local organizations in developing sustainable child protection measures.
Under the MoU, Shurooq will utilize its various cultural, tourism, and leisure venues to raise community awareness and support initiatives that align with KSQF's objectives. These venues, which attract numerous visitors daily, serve as platforms for engaging residents and tourists alike. KSQF will leverage its development expertise and global partnerships to reinforce child protection systems and address harmful practices such as child labor, human trafficking, and child marriage.
The MoU was signed at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah by Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq, and Lujan Mourad, Director of KSQF, alongside representatives and partners. Ahmed Al Qaseer highlighted the importance of children's wellbeing in shaping the future of societies, emphasizing the collective responsibility to protect them.
He stated, "Through this partnership with KSQF, we are placing Shurooq's expertise in cultural and social engagement at the service of a vital humanitarian cause, transforming the visitor experience from leisure and entertainment into an opportunity to contribute to meaningful change and noble causes worldwide."
Lujan Mourad expressed that KSQF was founded on the belief that child protection is fundamental to a fair society. She remarked, "This partnership is pivotal, as it encourages individuals and communities across the emirate to support our mission, giving everyone the opportunity to share responsibility and contribute to building a world that safeguards children and preserves their innocence."
She also extended gratitude to Shurooq for their support, underscoring that child protection is a collective responsibility that ensures a fairer and more compassionate future. Through this partnership, Sharjah emphasizes that true development is rooted in respecting human dignity. The two organizations plan to announce a joint agenda of initiatives and community engagement programs, inviting public participation in a collective effort toward child protection.
